The range of authentication solutions offered by SafeNet enables organizations to protect sensitive data, digital identities, and network resources and infrastructure across multiple domains, including VPNs, laptops, and PCs. The solutions are supported by the Token Management System (TMS) 5.0 which simplifies password and authenticator management and deployment.
As the flagship product of SafeNet's certificate-based authentication portfolio, the eToken PRO USB, along with its smart card form factor, are the company's first Java-based authenticators to undergo rigorous testing by the accredited National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cryptographic module testing lab at InfoGard.
"InfoGard provides the highest level of criteria for IT security assurance services, and product and system evaluations and validations," said Mark Minnoch, FIPS program manager, CISSP, InfoGard Laboratories. "The achievement of these cryptographic module validations demonstrates eToken's continuing commitment to the creation of secure authenticators that meet strict requirements for security and integrity."
FIPS 140-2 defines stringent requirements for providing cryptographic functions and protecting the associated keys. This mandate ensures that a security product must be able to protect its own keys, provide for safe Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), run self-tests, maintain a means to communicate its status, and allow for role-based authentication of users. With the strict hardware requirements of FIPS 140-2 Level 2 and 3 certifications, the SafeNet eToken technologies surpass other non-certified and certified Level 1 and 2 authentication tokens. FIPS 140-2 Level 3 establishes that the token is tamper-proof, while Levels 1 and 2 require tamper-evident features.
"The FIPS certification for the eToken solutions showcases SafeNet's commitment to meeting the strictest standards required for compliance and regulations, and the most stringent demands for data protection that today's enterprises and government organizations require," said Shlomi Yanai, vice president of authentication, SafeNet. "This innovative product line is one example of the technological leadership and market strength that the combined companies of SafeNet and Aladdin offer and will continue to develop.
