The Emerging Markets division is based in London and manages the distribution of the Discovery portfolio that includes eight channels to 89 countries in Russia and CIS, Southern and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Weinstein is responsible for the continued expansion of Discovery through new and existing business models, expanded channel offerings and the broader distribution throughout the region with a view to creating greater local relevance and localisation for the company's valued viewers.
Weinstein joined the EMEA division from Discovery Enterprises International (DEI), where he managed Discovery's international program sales, co-financing, consumer products and licensing business.
Before joining Discovery, Weinstein served as Senior Vice President, Business Development and Digital Strategy at New Line Cinema where he was responsible for the studio's green lighting process as well as structured co-financing and slate financing and digital strategy across production, distribution and marketing. He also held a variety of roles with MTV Networks from 1999 to 2007, including serving as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development for Comedy Central, Spike TV and TV Land and as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development for MTV Networks International.
