No successor has been named.
Nova was acquired in July by International Petroleum Investment Co., a Middle Eastern investment firm. When IPIC announced the acquisition early this year, it said it had no plans to change the current management team.
Mr. Pappas, 54, was not available for comment yesterday.
He joined Nova in 2000 as a senior vice president after working for Dow Chemical, a Dow-DuPont venture and a dot.com business. He became Nova's chief operating officer in 2006 and was named president in 2008. He took the helm as chief executive when Jeffrey Lipton, his predecessor, retired May 1.
Also, Nova said Todd Karran had been named chief financial officer effective Jan. 1, 2010. Mr. Karran will succeed Larry MacDonald, who also is retiring at the end of the year.
Nova has its primary manufacturing operations in Canada, but its executive team is based in Moon.
