The STAPLES Canada "Back-to-School Supply Drive" raised $1,048,940 in donations for local schools, non-profit and community groups across Canada.
"This is a record for STAPLES! It's important that we give back to our local communities and children in-need, giving them a head start in their early education," said Steve Matyas, president of Staples Canada.
The "Back-to-School Supply Drive" started August 8 and ended September 12, with STAPLES stores across Canada collecting cash and school supply donations for local schools or organizations.
"During this tough economic year people answered the call to help those children less fortunate. At Staples, we like to give back to the communities in which we operate, it's part of our corporate culture," said Matyas.
In the province of Quebec, Bureau en Gros stores donated their funds to le Club Des Petits Dejeuners du Quebec, to give children a head start to their school day by providing them with a healthy breakfast.
