Academy officials point to health care industry sources that indicate Practical Nurses and Care Attendants are in high demand across the province. "The job market for these sorts of positions will remain strong for the next several years in British Columbia," says Dr. Bohdan Bilan, VP of Academics for UCW Academy of Health. "As the current workforce retires and our aging population increases its demand for health care services, it is expected that the need for practitioners, LPNs and Care Aides especially, will stay high."
With the potential for tremendous opportunity and growth in the health care services sector, students enrolled in UCW Academy of Health are expected to succeed in their careers post-graduation. Combining classroom-based instruction with intensive hands-on learning, Academy of Health students will be taught by experienced practitioner-instructors.
"Because our graduates must meet the needs of both the health care service providers and their patients, it is important that they learn the technical and practical aspects of this career field," says Dr. David Strong, President of UCW Academy of Health. "These programs will teach them to do so and help them build interpersonal and problem-solving skills as well."
The UCW Academy of Health officially opens their campus in Richmond on January 11, 2010. Applications are currently being accepted for the Practical Nursing, Community Health Care and Resident Care Attendant programs.
