Youku.com accuses Sohu of infringing its copyright and reputation. The video sharing website requires that Sohu should stop its copyright infringing activities and apologize to Youku.com.
Sohu recently slandered Youku.com, which make negative impacts on the latter, according to the statement.
On September 15, Sohu initiated an anti-pirate alliance in cooperation with Joy.cn and Voole.com. Sohu Chief Executive Officer Charles Zhang said on the day that the alliance would claim for compensations of CNY 100 million against Youku.com for pirating 503 video works and keep the rights to claim for its criminal liabilities.
Gu Yongqiang, founder and CEO of Youku.com, once acted as chief financial officer, chief operating officer, as well as president at Souhu during the period from 1999 to 2005.
