Although the company initially projected a group net loss of zero, it now plans to book billions of yen in extra costs for a voluntary retirement program and a recall of washer-dryers, they said.
After soliciting voluntary retirement with a special allowances for 11 days until Thursday, Sanyo received retirement bids from more than 800 employees, the officials said.
In March, about 1,000 employees in Sanyo's semiconductor division made voluntary retirement bids.
Sanyo has been proceeding with its streamlining efforts under its plan to become a subsidiary of Panasonic Corp.
