Barclays hires new country manager for Russia

Sep 23, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- BCBEY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- UK-based Barclays Bank has appointed Bob Foresman as managing director, head of investment banking and investment management for Russia and country manager for Russia.

In this role, Mr Foresman will head Barclays's investment banking and investment management businesses in Russia, as well as represent and coordinate the activities of the Barclays Group in the country.

He will be based in Moscow, and report to Benoit de Vitry, head of global markets-trading for Europe and head of commodities and emerging markets at Barclays Capital.

Mr Foresman joins the firm from Renaissance Capital, where he was deputy chairman. Prior to this, he was chairman of the management committee for Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and head of investment banking for Russia for ING Barings.

Mr Vitry said: "We are delighted with this key appointment for Barclays and proud to have the depth of experience that Bob brings for the benefit of our clients. His experience, organizational abilities and relationships will undoubtedly help establish Barclays as a premier banking franchise in Russia."
