--ADC Experts Share Deployment Know-how in Seminars, Sessions
ADC (NASDAQ:ADCT) (www.adc.com) will highlight its fiber leadership through its expanded line of OmniReach(R) fiber-to-the-x (FTTX) solutions and featured speaking engagements at the 2009 FTTH Conference and Exposition, held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, Sept. 27--Oct. 1.
ADC's booth #415 will feature its OmniReach FTTP portfolio including solutions for central office, distribution, access and premises applications. A new addition to its Outside Plant (OSP) product line, the RealFlex(TM) 5 drop cable, also will be displayed. The RealFlex 5 product is a premier, reduced bend radius cable that is currently available in a variety of connector types, including a legacy full-sized hardened connector, and SC/APC. Hardened connectors are environmentally sealed and terminated in the factory to ensure the highest reliability standards.
Designed for MTU or MDU indoor/outdoor installations, the RealFlex 5 drop cable reduces the risk to bend-induced insertion loss. In space-challenged structures, or environments where the cable path requires sharp turns and bends, the RealFlex 5 drop cable provides increased flexibility without any sacrifice in optical performance.
"With the demand for more and more bandwidth, carriers are looking for ways to install fiber networks into single residential units and multiple dwelling units (MDUs) faster and more economically," said Trevor Smith, director of carrier solutions for ADC's Global Connectivity Solutions. ADC FTTH Experts Explore Deployment Best Practices
As part of the conference program, Smith will lead a panel discussion on "Multiple Dwelling Units (MDUs) and Multiple Tenant Units (MTUs): Exploring the Unique Challenges and Considerations of These Fiber Deployments" on Sept. 29, from 3:15-4:45 p.m. Smith, along with executives from Telefonica Spain, TDS Telecommunications Corp., Windstream Communications, and Verizon, will discuss best practices and methods for successful fiber deployments within MDUs.
ADC also will participate in several sessions at the show:
-- Patrick Sims, Principal Engineer for FTTP Products and Solutions for ADC, will present "The Business Case for Fiber, Bundled Services and Applications" on Sept. 28, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. In addition, this session will be offered in Spanish and Portuguese by Sergio Ruiz, Market Manager for the Latin America Carrier Market for ADC.
-- Doug Ellens, Principal Senior Systems Engineer for ADC, will discuss "Construction Practices Within the MDU" on Sept. 28, from 11-11:45 a.m.
Several other ADC experts will speak on related industry topics during poster-board sessions throughout the conference.
