Haley Terzulli scored the game-winning goal with 1:59 remaining in the opening half and recorded an assist. But this victory was Danaher's time to shine. Danaher, who earned first-team All-Central District honors last season, stonewalled the Colonials time and time again during a second half that saw most of the action take place in the Colonial Heights offensive zone. "Our defense has gotten much better -- and Mary Beth is a great goalkeeper," Warriors coach Katherine Doctor said. "[Danaher has] got her eyes focused on playing on the college level. She's kept us in a lot of games. A lot of games." In a matchup where goals were at a premium, Terzulli provided her team with a needed lift. Her goal sent Matoaca into halftime with a 2-1 lead. "[Terzulli's goal] was crucial to us and our psyche," Doctor said. "It helped get us pumped up. We like to be the underdog. I think this team likes to keep the momentum going. Our players do really well in terms of knowing what to do and how to keep momentum and a lead." Schiwitz added an insurance goal with under 3 minutes remaining off an assist by Keegan Bruckner.
