Having recently successfully launched the Milo and Cheerios cereal brands, Manghardt said Nestle would introduce a "few more products" over the next 18 to 24 months in the local market.
"Our corporate brands are well known and are more powerful than the manufacturer's name that is behind them," he said.
He outlined the company's expansion at a media briefing held in Rosebank to announce his departure and the appointment from next month of Sullivan O'Carroll as chairman and MD -- the first South African to assume the post.
"I look forward to taking Nestle SA to the next level and positioning the company as the leading nutrition, health and wellness company," said O'Carroll.
During the past five years, Nestle had put at least R1,8bn into capital investments and the company was introducing new strategies to market its products specifically to lower-income earners.
Manghardt is leaving Nestle SA to be the CEO of Nestle Middle East, which is based in Dubai.
