Sumitomo, a network equipment company for the broadband access market, will leverage Continuous Computing's software, services and integration expertise to accelerate its entry into the growing femtocell market.
With the Sumitomo customer announcement, Continuous Computing adds its 16th femtocell design win to a client roster that includes traditional network equipment providers, original design manufacturers, broadband access suppliers and radio equipment vendors located in North America, Europe, China, Japan, Malaysia and Korea.
"Trillium Femtocell Iuh software and professional services will enable Sumitomo to move into the femtocell market very quickly," said Minoru Kuramoto, manager of information & communication laboratories at Sumitomo Electric Industries.

Trillium Femtocell software currently supports 3G High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) technology and the roadmap targets an LTE femtocell reference implementation in Q1 2009. The Trillium Femtocell Access Point HSPA reference implementation is pre-integrated with picoChip's PC202 and PC302 femtocell reference boards and baseband software, and features include:
- Software with minimized memory footprint
- Support for voice, video, and high-speed data
- Pre-tested solution verified with multiple User Equipment (UE) devices
- Compliant with 3GPP Release 8 Home NodeB standards including support for Iuh
Continuous Computing is an active member of the Femto Forum, a non-profit organization committed to the standardization and adoption of femtocell technology, as well as a participant in 3GPP activities.
