Clear Creek Consulting, a 7-year-old firm created to help individuals and businesses resolve tax liabilities issues with state taxing agencies and the Internal Revenue Service, is expected to move to 285 Century Place later this year, said Chris Markwell, the company's president.
"We needed more space, honestly, for a couple of years now," he said. "We're about to bust out of this building in Westminster."
The approximately 20,000-square-foot site in Louisville is about twice the size of Clear Creek's current locale at 8620 Wolff Court, Suite 330, he said. Lee Diamond, a broker with CB Richard Ellis, was involved in the deal, according to information provided by the city of Louisville.
The move will bring more than 100 employees to Boulder County and Louisville, a city that's expected to lose hundreds of jobs over a two-year period with the consolidation and eventual closure of Kable Fulfillment Services, which was announced late last year.
Malcolm Fleming, Louisville's city manager, said Clear Creek is a welcome arrival.
"We're always pleased to see new companies coming in to Louisville," he said. "In this instance, it's going to help, obviously, fill some vacant space that we have."
Clear Creek, which is opening satellite offices across the United States, has experienced rapid growth and success by providing a service to thousands of businesses and individuals that Markwell deems as "economy-proof." However, the tax relief services industry also is one where emotions are high, Markwell said.
A Web search of Clear Creek Consulting returned its presence on a consumer complaint Web site with a couple dozen anonymous posts against the business. Clear Creek also has a B- rating with the Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau, which at the end of the year will only accredit members that have a rating of B or higher, said Megan Miller, the agency's public relations representative.
"Anybody and everybody can post (a Web complaint) ... so who knows what is true and what isn't," Markwell said. "With success comes a lot of enemies."
