FBR Capital Markets Hires Senior Bankers

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept 28, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- FBCM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- FBR Capital Markets Corporation (Nasdaq: FBCM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) (FBR Capital Markets), a leading investment bank serving the middle market, today announced the hiring of three Managing Directors within Investment Banking. Bob Brown joins the firm's Financial Institutions group in Irvine, Larry Goldsmith joins the Real Estate group in Arlington and Andrew Guida joins the Mergers & Acquisitions group in New York.

"Each member of this veteran team has more than 15 years of experience at leading capital markets firms, and their knowledge and expertise will be valuable as we expand our portfolio of services and create new opportunities for clients."

Mr. Brown has more than 15 years of experience in finance and accounting and was most recently a member of Goldman Sachs' Global Financial Institutions Investment Banking group. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he held the same position at Lehman Brothers and began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand. Mr. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Southern California and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Mr. Goldsmith joins FBR Capital Markets following nearly 10 years at Banc of America Securities where he was most recently a managing director within its Real Estate & Lodging Investment Banking group. He was previously an associate with Montgomery Securities, which later became part of Banc of America Securities, and he began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston as an investment banking analyst in its Mergers & Acquisitions group. Mr. Goldsmith received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mr. Guida, a 15-year veteran of the financial services industry, joins FBR Capital Markets from Morgan Stanley where he was an executive director within the firm's European Financial Institutions Investment Banking group. Previously, he was a vice president within the Financial Institutions group at JPMorgan Chase & Co. He began his career with Capital Access Corp. and later worked for Smith Barney as an equity strategist. Mr. Guida earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Washington & Lee University and holds an MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University.
