Using accelerator monitors and other sensors installed on cellular phones, the ETGA Swing Lesson application assesses swings based on an ideal form and suggests ways to improve. The rotation of the hips and other body movements are measured in three dimensions, with the data fed into a 3-D motion analyzer.
Diagnoses and advice are given under the guidance of professional golfer Tadashi Ezure.
Users can also save prior swings and compare shots to their previous bests.
The sensors will be featured in some new models offered by NTT DoCoMo Inc . (TSE:9437), with the application to be free of charge.
Fujitsu co-developed the technology with Hosei University professor Kajiro Watanabe.
