PSIA's 1.0 API Media Device specification, which has been reviewed by technical experts that represent all segments of the IP security market, enables interoperability between disparate products, expanding opportunities for companies that provide solutions to the physical security marketplace.
"PSIA is doing work that promises to guide the direction of the security industry," said Chuck Hutzler, VP of Product Management for Tyco Safety Products, a business unit of Tyco International.
"Tyco is committed to interoperability among physical security solutions through their open platform strategy, making them welcome addition to our alliance," said David Bunzel, Executive Director of the PSIA. "The addition of Tyco's support and vision will enable PSIA to deliver on its objective to create interoperability between all IP devices in the physical security market, which includes cameras, analytics, storage and access control systems; the ability to communicate in a consistent way will allow the industry to truly take advantage of the IP infrastructure."
The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance is a global consortium of nearly 50 physical security manufacturers and integrators that are focused on promoting interoperability of IP- enabled security devices across every segment of the security industry.
