Sep 30, 2009 (Vanguard/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- PZCUF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- FOUR days after the factory manager of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, Mr. Lucky Egba, was shot dead along the Lagos/Abeokuta expressway, another senior staff of the company whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, but who is said to be the internal auditor yesterday escaped the assassins bullets by the whiskers.

Already, three suspects have been arrested and are presently cooling off in police custody.

According to sources, two of the suspected assassins, reports said, flew in from Abuja two days ago and lodged in an unnamed hotel in Ikeja. They were said to had mounted surveillance on the victims' residence at about 7.00 a.m. and were asking questions about his whereabouts when residents became suspicious.

They reportedly alerted Neighborhood Watch office nearby who confronted the suspected assailants and arrested them.

Sources said they were immediately handed over to the nearby Meiran police station where they admitted being hired by an unnamed staff of the company to assassinate the auditor.

The suspects, reports said, even admitted that the killing was to attract N5 million, stressing that N2 million had already been paid into their account and that the balance would have been paid if the deal was successfull.

The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba could not be reached for comments but a source close to his office said details of the assassination attempt would-be made known today.

"Three of them were arrested and handed over to us. The men are still with the Meiran police and preliminary investigations have been concluded. But I cannot say much now because the OC will talk to you people tomorrow (today) said the source.

On Saturday, Mr. Luck Egba was waylaid by suspected assassins along the Lagos\Abeokuta expressway and shot dead on the spot. He was said to had left the office and was going back to meet his family when he met his untimely death.
