The Creative Coast Alliance is a non-profit public/private partnership dedicated to supporting technology and innovation in Savannah. The organization was created in 2003 and chartered by the Savannah Economic Development Authority, the City of Savannah and the Chatham County Commission.
The Innovation Awards, presented by commercial architecture firm Lott + Barber, will be announced on October 22 at the Savannah College of Art and Design's Trustees Theater on Broughton Street in downtown Savannah. Finalists for the awards were selected by an independent panel of judges that included Georgia state representative Ron Stephens, former Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development Craig Lesser, Gordon Mathews, University of Georgia Small Business Development Center Area Director Lyn Vos, WTOC General Manager Bill Cathcart, Savannah College of Art and Design Professor of Graphic Design and Sustainable Design Scott Boylston, Executive Director of the U.S. Green Building Council's Georgia Chapter Leesa Carter and Union Mission President and CEO Michael Elliott.
"Congratulations are certainly in order for PureSpectrum," said The Creative Coast Alliance Executive Director Brynn Grant. "As one of the finalists for the 2009 Innovation Awards, they are a perfect example of a successful knowledge-based business operating headquartered on Savannah's creative coast. We wish them good luck on October 22nd!"
PureSpectrum launched a truly dimmable Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) earlier this year to meet the demand for high quality, dependable dimmable CFL bulbs voiced by consumers, the utility industry and other audiences. Dimming is considered a gateway to advanced green lighting solutions such as daylight harvesting and occupancy sensing, but poor performance of brand name dimmable CFLs has prevented full consumer acceptance.
PureSpectrum introduced a 20-watt dimmable CFL this summer which outperforms major brand-name dimmable CFLs and is compatible with most commercially available dimmers. The company recently finalized a distribution agreement for PureSpectrum's products with a national electrical distributor that services more than 900 energy providers in 47 states.
"We are extremely proud to be a finalist for the Innovation Awards, and we are excited about the exposure and excitement that this nomination will create for our company and our products," said PureSpectrum president and CEO Lee Vanatta. "As we continue our marketing and sales efforts and new product launches, we are enthusiastic about building our brand name and introducing the products and their benefits to new audiences and potential partners. A regionally recognized platform such as the Innovation Awards is a tremendous opportunity for PureSpectrum, and we are hopeful we can share a victory with our shareholders in a few weeks."
