Under the contract, SAIC will help SMC's IRRT assess space system readiness and risks associated with software, avionics, propulsion/ordnance, and structural mechanical areas. SMC is the center of technical excellence for researching, developing and purchasing military space systems for the Air Force Space Command.
Tony Moraco, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager said: "We look forward to continuing our support of the IRRT as they work to ensure SMC mission success by identifying potential technical and safety issues and recommending mitigation approaches that lower flight risk."
Last week, the company relocated its corporate headquarters from San Diego to McLean, Virginia. The move was part of its effort to be closer to its biggest client, the federal government. The company also won a five-year $26m follow-on contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division to provide engineering, technical, and management services.
