"Today's complex IT environment demands reliable, affordable appliance solutions designed for long-life use and maximum uptime," said Jeff Hudgins, vice president of marketing, NEI. "By combining the latest Intel technology with other leading-edge drive and storage components, the S-1900 R2 gives software developers a deployment vehicle on which they can promise their customers higher reliability and more affordable performance."
Key features of the S-1900 R2 include:
-- Four hot swap SATA/SAS hard drives for up to four terabytes of storage
-- Twelve slots of DDR3 memory (1333/1066 MHz) for up to 96 GB of total
memory
-- Two full-height, full-length PCIe and one low-profile expansion slots
Additionally, the platform supports up to eight processing cores per system and can host either Microsoft Windows(R) or Linux operating systems.
When coupled with NEI's Smart Services software - a lightweight and efficient platform lifecycle management console - the S1900 R2 will deliver even greater dependability backed by monitoring capabilities, making it ideal for data and video storage applications, network and web security, IP communications and many other enterprise applications. NEI's Smart Services allows clients to deploy a more controlled, lifecycle-managed network of appliances that simplify and automate remote health monitoring, centralize application and OS updates, streamline support processes and accelerate deployments. All this allows for lower operating cost, a controlled operating environment and greater customer satisfaction on the part of NEI's clients' end-users.
Pricing and Availability
Evaluation units of the S-1900 R2 are immediately available with production quantities expected through 2013. Base-configuration pricing starts at $2,150 each. The S-1900 R2 comes with a two-year limited warranty which can be supplemented by a variety of technical support plans ranging from advance replacement to on-site 24-hour support.
