Ciena In Advanced Discussons To Acquire Certain Nortel Assets (CIEN)

Oct 05, 2009 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- CIEN | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- 10/5/2009 - Ciena Corp. (NASDAQ:CIEN) confirmed Monday that it is in advanced discussions to acquire assets of Nortel's Metro Ethernet Networks, including substantially all of the optical networking and carrier Ethernet assets. The outcome of the discussions is uncertain and the deal is subject to negotiation. The agreement would be subject to a competitive bidding process under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and the Canadian Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act. Ciena specializes in practical network transition.
