With the suit to cost 52,290 yen (US$583.87) and be sold at 272 group stores nationwide, Haruyama is targeting sales of 50,000 units.
Using a special method, the suit's fibers have been treated with titanium dioxide, which acts as a photocatalyst. Photocatalysts are known for breaking down bacteria and for helping fight against infections, eliminating odors.
Haruyama says the photocatalyst broke down the spreading A H1N1 swine flu virus and was effective in warding off infection in in-house testing.
The suits will initially go on sale at a new store to be opened Thursday in Tokyo's Shinjuku district. Through October 18, it will sell there for just 18,900 yen.
