Mr Mallozzi will succeed John Van Der Wall, who has decided to retire at the end of 2009 after 24 years with Prudential.
Mr Van Der Wall joined Prudential in 1985 and has held a number of senior leadership roles prior to becoming chairman and CEO of Prudential Real Estate and Relocation Services in 2000.
Mr Mallozzi was most recently senior vice president of the institutional solutions group in Prudential Retirement. He joined Prudential in 2004 and during his career with the company he also served as head of marketing and product for Prudential Retirement. He will report to Bernard Winograd, COO of Prudential Financial for US businesses.
Mr Winograd said: "Jim has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities in the retirement businesses and has a proven track record of growing the businesses he has headed. Working closely with Earl Lee, president of Prudential Real Estate and Relocation Services, we expect him to oversee the continued development and growth of our real estate and relocation operations both in the US and abroad.
"During his long and distinguished career, John played a key role in establishing the leadership position of these businesses in their markets."
