The property, owned by Ken and Kathryn Hertz, is at 4051 Meridian St., west of Pier 1 Imports. The planned development permit would be for Bellis Ridge, a five-story, 100-room extended stay residence inn.
The owners of the 1.96-acre site are seeking a planned permit from the city to make the property more attractive to potential motel developers, said David Christensen, an architect and project applicant. Christensen said they currently don't have anyone involved to start construction.
"If this application gets approved, it might lead to a deal to start a project," Christensen said.
The property has a planned permit for condominium development, but that market remains challenging in this current economic climate, Christensen said.
The development would have street, water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure improvements and a bridge over a tributary of Spring Creek.
