Taylor joined as president, CEO, CUO and member of Montpelier's board in 2001 at the company's inception after a 37-year career in the Lloyd's and London market. He succeeded Jack Byrne, the former chairman and CEO of Montpelier's founding investors White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd in February 2004 and became chairman of the company.
Montpelier's initial public offering in October 2002 was led by Taylor, who further directed its growth from operations solely in Bermudato a global multi-line platform.
