They're looking for the dough that was tossed from a vehicle as the driver fled Warren police after robbing a Sterling Heights bank.
Willard J. Jeffries, 45, of Detroit is scheduled for an Oct. 19 preliminary examination on bank robbery charges. Police said he held up the Comerica Bank at 13655 Fifteen Mile on Monday.
Jeffries was ordered held in the Macomb County Jail on $200,000 bond after arraignment Tuesday in 41A District Court.
Police said the bank teller gave the robber money, and he fled in a red Chevrolet Blazer.
About 35 minutes later, Warren police spotted the SUV traveling south on Van Dyke at Westminster. The suspect pulled over, but took off as officers approached. Police pursued the man, who began throwing money out the window as he drove on Packard, Sterling Heights Lt. Luke Riley said. The pursuit ended in the area of Mt. Elliott and Davison when the suspect pulled into a parking lot. He was arrested.
Police recovered a small amount of money in the SUV. None of the tossed money was recovered, Riley said.
