"Kids around the world continue to join the hunt for 'The 39 Clues,' and it's thrilling to see the ongoing enthusiastic response from new readers as they discover this multi-dimensional reading adventure," said Ellie Berger, President Scholastic Trade.
"Winning was the best thing ever!" said John, age 11, who won $1,000 as the first prize winner of the Book #4 Episode Contest. "I'll probably spend some of the money on books. I can't wait for Book #6: 'In Too Deep.' I'd also like to buy my own laptop." John also loves playing the mission games on www.the39clues.com -- "Each mission is different, so it's always exciting to do a new one."
The next series of sweepstakes and contest for Book #5: "The Black Circle" by Patrick Carman began August 11, 2009, at 6:00 AM EDT and ends on November 2, 2009 at 11:59 PM EST. But kids can enter at anytime before December 31, 2010 to be part of the hunt and be eligible for the Grand Prize of $10,000 (US). On November 3, 2009, Scholastic will be releasing Book #6: "In Too Deep" by Jude Watson.
"The 39 Clues" centers around the Cahills -- the most powerful family the world has ever known. But the source of the family's power has been lost. Grace Cahill, the last matriarch of the Cahills, changed her will minutes before she died, leaving her descendants an impossible decision: receive a million dollars or a clue. The first Cahill to assemble all 39 clues hidden around the world will discover what makes the family so powerful -- a reward beyond measure. It's Cahill versus Cahill in a race to the finish, with readers hot on the heels of the main characters, fourteen-year-old Amy Cahill and her eleven-year-old brother, Dan.
