The company's Oxo housewares division increased sales 7.3 percent for the June through August quarter compared to a year ago. Its personal-care segment, which includes hair dryers and other grooming products, increased sales 4.9 percent in the quarter compared to a year ago, the company reported.
The company's selling, general, and administrative expenses declined 4 percent in the quarter compared to a year ago.
"Although the worldwide retail environment continues to be challenging, our leadership position in our market segments allowed us to continue to perform well during the quarter," Gerald Rubin, Helen of Troy CEO, said in a written statement.
Helen of Troy's stock was up $2.40 per share at $22.40 per share in midday trading on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
