According to Sierra Wireless, designed for HSPA networks, the MC8795V offers quad-band (850, 900, 1900, and 2100MHz) frequency band support, enabling customers to expand their product offering into new geographical markets.
The MC8795V also features data speeds with up to 7.2Mbps on the downlink and 5.76Mbps on the uplink. In addition, antenna diversity improves fringe performance on global HSPA networks, said Sierra Wireless.
The MC8795V module integrates into a variety of OEM devices, such as wireless terminals, point-of-sale devices, computers and laptops. It is also GPS capable, making it well suited for location-based applications, the company said. Its voice capabilities make it ideal for fixed wireless terminals and portable handheld devices that require the ability to make voice calls, the company added.
Didier Dutronc, senior vice president global marketing for Sierra Wireless, said: "This latest addition to our embedded module portfolio reflects our commitment to providing our customers with the latest wireless technologies to support their go to launch requirements.
"Our complete range of embedded modules, which covers cellular technologies including GSM up to HSPA+ and CDMA up to EV-DO Rev A, can answer the needs for wireless connectivity for any mobile computing or machine-to-machine application in any corner of the globe."
