First Mercury Financial Appoints Chief Underwriting Officer

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct 08, 2009 (A. M. Best via COMTEX) -- FMR | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- First Mercury Financial Corp. said it has appointed E. Edward "Ted" Camp as executive vice president and chief underwriting officer. In this role, Camp will be responsible for all of the company's underwriting activities conducted through CoverX and First Mercury Emerald. Camp will be based at the First Mercury (NYSE: FMR | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) headquarters in Southfield, Mich.

Camp, who has 23 years in the insurance industry, previously was senior vice president and chief underwriting officer of the CoverX specialty operations. He will maintain his involvement in managing this business as part of his broader responsibilities.

First Mercury Group has a current Best's Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent).
