Wisconsin Department of Commerce officials touted the announcement because ACCO previously had planned to close its two Wisconsin facilities and transfer the operations to Illinois.
ACCO spokesman Rich Nelson said the company reversed its decision after officials from the state and nearby Kenosha intervened with incentives that included a $750,000 state loan to assist the transition.
ACCO, a $1.6 billion-a-year company that's traded on the New York Stock Exchange, is known for products like the Swingline stapler. Its two facilities in Pleasant Prairie make paper clips, staples, and binding and laminating equipment, Nelson said.
With the changes, the company will add to the range of production in Wisconsin as well as move a warehouse from Hanover Park, Ill.
