The Cougars took the opening drive and scored on a 9-yard pass from Jake Howard to Brian Vogler. Stewart County proceeded to fumble the next two kickoffs. Both turnovers led to Brookstone touchdowns. Things didn't get any better for the Knights when Brookstone's defense took the field. Unable to mount more than one scoring drive, the Knights watched as the Cougars ran and passed to a 41-6 lead at the half. Howard was four of nine, throwing for 101 yards and three touchdowns. Joey Lewis ran for 74 yards and three touchdowns. Madison McCluskey ran for 88 yards, two touchdowns and caught another score in the rout.Coach Blair Harrison was pleased with the Cougars' performance, "We played very well tonight," he said. "We took care of the football and kept our defense off the field. We've had some adversity. It was time for us to have a game like this." The Cougars face undefeated Marion County at home next week. Harrison said his team is looking forward to the challenge. "We are going to get after it in practice," Harrison said. "We are going to work on eliminating mistakes." @z-BR Agate Bold Centered:Friday night at Lumpkin, Ga. @z-BR TabQuarters 1col:Brookstone 27 14 6 6-53 Stewart County 0 6 0 6-12 @z-BR Agate Bold Centered:First Quarter B-- Brian Vogler 9 pass from Jake Howard (run failed), 11:17 B-- Joey Lewis 1 run (run failed), 8:05 B-- Vogler 17 pass from Howard (Hunter Cuiba kick), 6:46 B-- Lewis 1 run (Cuiba kick), 3:13 @z-BR Agate Bold Centered:Second Quarter B-- Lewis 5 run (Cuiba kick), 8:14 SC-- No. 2 11 run (run failed), 1:13 B-- Madison McCluskey 27 pass from Howard (Cuiba kick), 0:23 @z-BR Agate Bold Centered:Third Quarter B-- McCluskey 10 run (kick failed), 5:13 @z-BR Agate Bold Centered:Fourth Quarter B-- McCluskey 38 run (kick failed), 4:49 SC-- No. 7 5 pass from No. 2 (no attempt), 0:04 Team records: Brookstone 4-2, (3-2, Region 4-A) Next: Hosts Marion County Friday; Stewart County 0-5 (0-4) ENTERPRISE 41, SMITHS STATION 36 SMITHS STATION, Ala. -- Smiths Station quarterback Michael Nolin passed and receiver Rod Austin hooked up for three touchdowns and Marcus Bilbrew ran in three of his own, but Enterprise secured a victory with a short touchdown run with less than three minutes to play.
