According to Detective B.M. Atterson, Steven Brown, 49, of Cleveland was driving on Robert C. Byrd Drive in the vicinity of Shoney's when he was pulled over for a traffic violation by Cpl. Ben Zutaut.
Atterson says Zutaut dispatched Cpl. Will Reynolds and his police K-9 Helo to the scene to search the vehicle, at which time Helo detected the scent of illegal narcotics.
Two pill bottles containing 14.5 grams of cocaine base or crack was recovered, along with 53 80 milligram OxyContin pills and four 60 milligram OxyContin pills, Atterson said.
Brown was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and was taken into custody without incident.
He was awaiting arraignment Friday night.
