PowerRating -- 10/11/2009 - Leap Wireless' (NASDAQ:LEAP) senior director of devices Sergio Garcia said in an interview with FierceWireless at the CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment conference that the company is expanding its distribution into mass market retailers Best Buy (NYSE:BBY), Target (NYSE:TGT), Dollar General, and Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT). Garcia mentioned that despite all the momentum around Google's Android operating system, Leap Wireless is not ready to commit to Android but instead is focusing on delivering devices that appeal to cost-conscious consumers. He said that many of the industry's large device makers are so focused on high-end smartphones that use Android and other operating systems that they have neglected the low-end device area that appeal to Cricket's, the brand they offer service under, core base.
