Koss, the Milwaukee manufacturer of stereo headphones, reported sales of $10.8 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, down 6% from $11.5 million for the same quarter a year ago. Net income was $566,379, down from $913,764 in the first quarter of 2008. Earnings per share declined by 40%, to 15 cents, from 25 cents last year.
Chief executive officer Michael J. Koss said that exports increased by 7% in the quarter, but the increase wasn't enough to offset the decline in domestic sales.
