WASHINGTON, Oct 14, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- SNY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The NCOA (National Council on Aging) today announced the addition of sanofi-aventis U.S. to NCOA's growing list of sponsors for its BenefitsCheckUp(R) program. Sanofi-aventis U.S. joins 20 other sponsors including pharmaceutical companies, healthcare organizations, foundations, corporations, and government partners.

Developed and maintained by NCOA, www.BenefitsCheckUp.org is the nation's most comprehensive online service that helps older adults with limited income and resources search for benefits programs for which they may be eligible. Since 2001, more than two million people have used the free service to identify benefits valued at more than $7 billion.

"Now more than ever, NCOA is committed to helping seniors save money and gain the most value from their health care coverage," said Stuart Spector, senior vice president at NCOA. "Our new corporate sponsor sanofi-aventis U.S. recognizes the need for programs like BenefitsCheckUp and we are pleased that they will be part of this valuable public service."

BenefitsCheckUp helps older Americans find and enroll in federal, state, local and private programs that help pay for prescription drugs, utility bills, meals, health care and other needs. The program also provides information on Medicare prescription drug coverage and offers tips to seniors on cutting costs. Older adults can search through almost 2,000 benefits programs from all 50 states and the District of Columbia to identify a program that best fits their needs.

"We are proud to join NCOA in this important initiative to help America's older adults receive the health care benefits they deserve," said Greg Irace, President and CEO of sanofi-aventis U.S. "Working together, we can help improve peoples' lives during tough economic times."
