The homes are designed to fit tight urban lots and accommodate families of two or three. Prices range from 9.78 million yen for 94 sq. meters of floor space to 10.77 million yen for 101 sq. meters.
The homes feature the same level of earthquake-proofing and durability as pricier models. S x L aims to sell 100 units a year.
Through next March, the homebuilder is also offering one-story houses geared for baby boomer couples, priced at 8.88 million yen for 59 sq. meters to 10.98 million yen for 86 sq. meters.
S x L is able to break the 10 million yen price barrier by cutting sales costs. Potential buyers can select exterior designs, interior layouts, flooring materials and other options online to create customized previews of their home.
