TORONTO, Oct. 15, 2009 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- CJR | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- e> << Nickelodeon channel hits the Canadian airwaves on Monday, November 2 New series Fanboy and Chum Chum joins the Nick schedule >>

Nickelodeon joins Corus Entertainment's premiere portfolio of kid-focused services on Monday, November 2 at 6 a.m. ET. Offering award-winning live-action comedies, animated favourites, star-studded special events and classic hits, Nickelodeon is a 24-hour digital service that kids can turn to for non-stop laughs. The schedule will kick off with the exclusive Canadian premiere of the animated series Fanboy and Chum Chum.

"We're very excited to give our audience what we know they want - more great Nick content, more of the time," said Doug Murphy, President, Nelvana and General Manager, Corus Kids. "With Treehouse being the primary destination that parents can turn to for their preschoolers' entertainment and YTV providing entertainment the whole family can enjoy, Nickelodeon rounds out our menu of offerings by putting kids first, allowing them to laugh and relax with some their favourite series."

On Monday, November 2 at 7 p.m. ET, kids will be the first to catch the exclusive Canadian premiere of the new animated comedy series Fanboy and Chum Chum featuring the voices of Josh Duhamel and Jamie Kennedy. Combining classic squash and stretch animation with CGI technology, this series centres on a fearless comic book-loving 10 year-old named Fanboy and his best friend and trusty side-kick Chum Chum, whose wide-eyed acceptance of the bizarre is the perfect complement to his friend's hyper imagination. For Fanboy, there is nothing more normal than living life in tights and a cape, and the concept of an ordinary day is one where anything and everything can happen. Fanboy and Chum Chum airs Mondays at 7 p.m. as well as Saturdays and Sundays at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The Nickelodeon schedule offers viewers a variety of award-winning live-action comedies weekdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Beginning with comedian Amy Poehler's The Mighty B!, the programming block also includes The Naked Brothers Band, Romeo! (starring Lil' Romeo and Master P), both exclusive to the network, as well as tween hit series Drake & Josh and iCarly, starring TV tween queen Miranda Cosgrove.

Popular animated series such as DreamWorks Animation's The Penguins of Madagascar, the nautical nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob SquarePants and Timmy Turner in The Fairly OddParents will give kids access to more of their favourite animated stars weekdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Exclusive to the network, older kids can catch timeless classics as the schedule pays homage to Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, The Angry Beavers, CatDog and Ren & Stimpy.

Nickelodeon will offer preschoolers a variety of their favourite Nick Jr. series weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. including such titles as Dora The Explorer, Go Diego Go, The Backyardigans, Wonder Pets!, Blue's Clues and Ni Hao Kai Lan. Canadian preschool series scheduled during this time period include Max & Ruby inspired by the popular book series by Rosemary Wells, and Nelvana's My Friend Rabbit.

Other additions to the Nickelodeon schedule include: True Jackson, VP starring Keke Palmer, Back at the Barnyard, H20: Just Add Water, Danny Phantom, Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. Rounding out the schedule, Nickelodeon will feature original Canadian series including Grossology, Willa's Wild Life, Jibber Jabber, Will & Dewitt, Kid vs. Kat and League of Super Evil.
