Military contracts may mean local jobs

Oct 15, 2009 (The Fayetteville Observer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- NCIT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- RLM Communications Inc., a Fayetteville-based company, is a partner in two military contracts that could bring local jobs.

One contract gives NCI Inc. of Reston, Va., a task order valued as much as $48.9 million. The order was through the Total Engineering Integrated Services contract to support the Forces Command headquarters being built at Fort Bragg.

RLM is a team member with NCI, along with Booz Allen Hamilton and Pershing Technologies. The work includes engineering, installation and testing services in support of the command, communications, computers and intelligence/IT systems in the headquarters.

The systems include data networks, voice networks, audiovisual display systems, video-teleconferencing systems and satellite systems.

Forces Command and U.S. Army Reserve Command are relocating from Atlanta by 2011.

In a separate contract, the Army Training and Doctrine Command and the Mission and Installation Contracting Command Center awarded Northrop Grumman Corp. a contract to support the U.S. Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization.

The five-year contract could be worth up to $140 million to support training and maintenance of friendly foreign military and paramilitary forces.

Northrop Grumman is the prime contractor. Partners include RLM Communications, System Studies and Simulations of Huntsville, Ala., and NEK Advanced Securities Group of Albuquerque, N.M.

U.S. SATMO deploys security assistance teams in support of U.S. foreign policy and national interests. Teams provide mobile training and technical assistance to foreign forces using equipment and technology supplied by the United States.

Randy Moore, president and CEO of RLM Communications, said his company rented a building in Spring Lake and is providing space for NCI.

RLM has 170 to 180 employees in 10 states and overseas, he said. The company has information about job openings on its Website, rlm-communications.com.
