The PSU lender had a net profit of Rs 1.50 billion in the corresponding period last fiscal, UCO Bank said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Total income increased to Rs 26.09 billion at the end of the September quarter, from Rs 21.87 billion in the year-ago period.
During the quarter, the bank's interest income grew by 19.59 per cent to Rs 23.84 billion, while the interest expenditure stood at Rs 18.58 billion, up 17.47 per cent over the previous fiscal.
For the half year ended September 2009, UCO Bank posted a net profit of Rs 3.86 billion. Total income in the six month-period rose to Rs 518 million, from Rs 418 million.
