NEW YORK, Oct 19, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- NTT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- NTT America, a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) and a global IP network services provider, today announced the company's COO and CTO, Kazuhiro Gomi, will speak at SUPERCOMM 2009 on the topic of managing the convergence demand: navigating international trends in business and technology. His engagement will take place at 11 AM CDT on Friday, October 23rd at McCormick Place West Building Room W183b in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Gomi was recently named to the Global Telecoms Business Power 100, a list of the 100 most powerful and influential people in the telecoms industry.

Mr. Gomi will discuss challenges and opportunities surrounding the dramatic increase in worldwide demand for Internet access. Three key issues dominate the future landscape: the growing number of Internet-enabled devices, the changing variety of available web applications both for businesses and consumers, as well as the necessity of unifying communications across platforms. The talk will include the importance of an international point of view on business, what countries will have the most impact on demand creation and how network security will continue to play a critical role in growth.

Attendees will gain an understanding of which emerging applications and technologies will be at the forefront of this demand curve including IPTV, VoIP, cloud computing and video conferencing. In addition, Mr. Gomi will give an overview of the next-generation Internet protocol, IPv6, and how its deployment will eliminate the address limits of IPv4 and what benefits IPv6 provides.

Mr. Gomi leads NTT America as its COO and CTO. In his role as COO, Mr. Gomi oversees the Enterprise Solutions and the Global IP Network business units, which comprise the operations of NTT America, including all facets of finance, engineering, operations and customer relations. The Enterprise Solutions Business Unit (ESBU) is focused on providing private networking and datacenter/colocation solutions to enterprise customers and multinational corporations. The Global IP Network (GIN) Business Unit operates one of the leading Global Tier-1 Internet backbones and offers direct IP transit connections to telecommunications companies, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), content providers, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), enterprises and Web hosting companies.

"SUPERCOMM provides a foundation for the communications industry to explore the technological transformation created by Broadband innovation," said Christopher Davis, director of marketing for NTT America's Global IP Network. "It's the perfect venue for Mr. Gomi to share his insight on the issues and technologies currently driving global Internet demand."
