California Micro Devices Names Dr. Edward C. Ross Chairman

MILPITAS, Calif., Oct 19, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- CAMD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- California Micro Devices (Nasdaq: CAMD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) today announced that Dr. Edward C. Ross has been elected chairman of its Board of Directors in a unanimous vote of the Board, succeeding Wade F. Meyercord who had served as chairman since 1994. Dr. Ross has served on the CMD Board since June 2002 and has been a member of its compensation and nominating and corporate governance committees for the past several years.

According to Robert V. Dickinson, president and CEO, "Given his outstanding record of achievement in the semiconductor industry and his knowledge of the company, Ed is an excellent choice for this role and will provide strong and effective leadership for our Board. I also want to acknowledge Wade's long term service as chairman and thank him for all of his contributions to CMD."

John Fichthorn, managing director of Dialectic Capital and newly elected member of the CMD Board added, "I look forward to working closely with Ed and all of the other members of the CMD Board to help the company realize its full potential."

Dr. Ross served as President and President Emeritus of TSMC North America, the multi-billion dollar US subsidiary of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd., a Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer. Previously, he held senior management positions with Synopsys, Inc. and Cirrus Logic, Inc. He was also CEO and subsequently chairman of Power Integrations, Inc. Dr. Ross has been a director of publicly-traded semiconductor companies Volterra Semiconductor, Inc., since May 2004, and Atmel Corporation since April 2008. Dr. Ross earned a B.S.E.E. from Drexel Institute of Technology (now Drexel University) and an M.S.E.E., M.A., and Ph.D. in Solid State Electronics from Princeton University.
