AU Optronics Exhibits Whole New Series of Innovative Technologies and Products at eMex 2009

HSINCHU, Taiwan, Oct 21, 2009 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- AUO | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- AU Optronics Corp. ("AUO" or the "Company") (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) will exhibit a broad array of TFT-LCDs for different applications at eMEX 2009 (Electronic Manufacturer Exposition China), scheduled to be held from Oct. 22 to Oct. 25 at the Suzhou International Exhibition Center, China. AUO's exhibits this year highlight 6-inch and 9-inch touch-function e-Books, the world's thinnest(*) 3-inch touch panel with a thickness of merely 2.5mm and VGA resolution. The exhibit will also include a series of high contrast ratio green TV panels featuring AMVA 3 technology, as well as a series of 16:9 LED backlight notebook panels and LCD monitor panels.

The theme of AUO's exhibition this year is "Connected to Digital Evolution." AUO's goal is to bring more interactive experiences and delightful digital lifestyles to consumers by leveraging its innovative technologies. Future digital lifestyles will revolve around products that provide superior value and offer completely new user experiences. AUO will keep producing products that bring the best visual experience to consumers.

LCD TV & PID applications

AUO will exhibit its Full HD LCD TV products family with built-in AMVA 3 technology, from 32-inch to 52-inch, demonstrating AUO's leading status in Full HD LCD TV panels. The 32-inch, 37-inch and 52-inch are all green panels, which can reduce power consumption by 30%. The thickness of AUO's new 42-inch LCD TV panel is only 2.65cm. The edge LED backlight can save more power while maintaining a slim design. Another major focus for AUO at eMex this year will be PID applications (Public Information Displays). AUO will also demonstrate a 65-inch Full HD portrait LCD panel this year. With a portrait backlight mode design, it can reach a brightness of 700 nits, making the Full HD portrait LCD panels the optimum choice for PIDs.

Monitor and Notebook PC applications

AUO will exhibit a series of 16:9 power-saving monitors in 18.5-inch, 21.5-inch and 24-inch sizes, featuring stylish design with a thickness less than 1cm. AUO will also showcase 11.6-inch, 13.3-inch, 14-inch and 15.6-inch ultra-slim notebook panels with a thickness of only 3.6-3.8mm and a weight of only 220g in the lightest model, an ideal choice to pair with the CULV processor.

Industrial and Consumer Electronics applications

AUO presents industrial and medical panels with long life and replaceable LED backlights that reduce power consumption and cost. In terms of consumer electronics applications, AUO will showcase the world's thinnest(*) 3-inch touch panel with a thickness of merely 2.5mm and VGA resolution, 3.22-inch and 3.61-inch mobile LCD panels.
