The Junior League of Owensboro will hold a layette drive on Saturday at the Walmart locations on Kentucky 54 and Frederica Street, and Kroger at Wesleyan Park Plaza.
A layette is a complete outfit for a newborn baby, including clothes, bedding and accessories, such as a bottle, diapers, lotion, pacifier, soap, rattle, cotton balls, Q-tips and Vaseline.
The Junior League will assemble the items in a layette, and perinatal nurses from the Green River District Health Department will distribute them in Daviess County when a need arises.
Donations of items and money are appreciated. The Junior League of Owensboro is a nonprofit organization.
Woman's Club collecting items for OASIS on Saturday
Members of the Kentucky Federated Woman's Club of Owensboro will assist with the Shop and Share campaign Saturday at the Kroger stores on Parrish Avenue and U.S. 60 East.
Customers at those stores are asked to donate personal items to be given to OASIS, the local women's shelter. This is the second year for the statewide campaign promoted by first lady Jane Beshear. Members of the Woman's Club will be at both Kroger locations to accept donations.
All women interested in joining the Woman's Club are invited to the annual membership luncheon and style show given by Christopher & Banks on Friday at the Field House. Call Marty Thorpe, 926-8367, for a reservation and directions.
Alzheimer's support group meets Tuesday
The Owensboro Daviess County Alzheimer's Daytime Support Group will meet from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Healthcare Care Center, 3740 Old Hartford Road.
The guest speaker will be Kevin Wright.
