This is a clear increase from the net income of USD6.0m or USD0.12 per diluted share for the same period of last year.
The third quarter 2009 results benefited from the realisation of one-time tax benefits in Hawaiian's income tax provision. The company estimates the benefit of these adjustments to be around USD20m.
Excluding these one-time adjustments, net income for the third quarter 2009 would have been USD10.7m, or USD0.20 per diluted share.
Operating revenues for the quarter totalled USD305.6m, compared to USD339.9m for the third quarter of 2008.
