Freeport took steps to cope with the deteriorating economic backdrop by slashing output, defering development projects and cancelling equipment orders.
It is now restarting activities at its Miami mine in Arizona, resuming a planned incremental expansion at the copper concentrator for its Cerro Verde operation in Peru, and resuming construction for its sulfide expansion project at El Abra in Chile.
