The company said the multi-function Digi TransPort WR44 provides high-speed connectivity to remote devices by combining a 3G cellular router, security, routing, an Ethernet switch, global positioning system (GPS), telemetry and Wi-Fi access point all in one device.
"Industry-specific devices have special requirements that often cannot be satisfied with classic IT infrastructure," said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Digi International. "The Digi Transport WR44 has all the functionality of enterprise-class routers but with a vertically focused feature set designed for specific industry applications such as transportation, public safety, remote office, retail and financial."
The Digi TransPort WR44 can be used as a mobile hotspot in transportation applications such as in public safety vehicles, or on a bus, train, van or ship. It is also ideal for providing both primary and back-up connectivity to remote office networks. High-end security features also make the product perfect for point-of-sale applications such as remote payment processing within a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) approved network.
The company said Digi TransPort WR44 is a multifunction router with flexibility for industry-specific device connectivity options. Various configurations are available including multiple serial ports (async or sync), GPS or I/O telemetry modules, a USB port and a four-port Ethernet switch. Additionally, the Digi Transport WR44 can be fully managed using Digi's Remote Manager software for setup, configuration and maintenance of installations. It also has a five-year warranty, the company said.
