Eramet, which owns 60 per cent stake in the project will be the operator of the world's largest ferronickel plant with Mitsubishi and Antam holding 30 per cent and 10 per cent respectively, Antam President Alwyin Syah Lubis said.
The project, on the Halmahera island, will produce 60,000 metric tons of ferronickel from 500 million tons of nickel ore a year, Lubis was quoted as saying by the newspaper Jakarta Globe.
Earlier, North Maluku Governor Thaib Armayin said Eramet's local unit Weda Bay has secured the license from Jakarta and already built a seaport to support the project.
