Danone selects OMD as media agency for China

OMC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- French food products company Danone has announced that OMD, a media company of Omnicom Group, has acquired the company's China media planning and buying account, the Media website has reported.

According to the news source, Danone was reportedly in talks with various companies including OMD, MEC, MPG and Vizeum since July 2009, and has finalized MEC and OMD for review. While OMD takes care of Danone's China media planning, MEC handles Danone's UK media planning and buying duties and MPG handles the company's US account.

The company reportedly spends approximately $500 million on media planning and buying and expects to spend approximately $150 million for media planning and buying in China.

OMD will be in charge of the media account which includes Dumex Milk Powder, the leading foreign milk brand in China, Robust Waters, a carbonated drinks and water brand, and Danone Dairy.
