COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Oct. 22, 2009 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) --
QLTI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- NB Public Equity K/S ("NB") announced that on October 21, 2009, it sold in open market sales (the "Sale"), through the facilities of the NASDAQ Stock Market, ownership of 2,000,000 common shares (the "Shares") of QLT, Inc. ("QLTI") at an average price of approximately $3.20 USD ($3.33 CAD) per Share. Together with previously owned common shares of QLTI, the Sale brought the total shareholdings of NB in QLTI to 7,256,564 Shares, representing approximately 13.29% of the currently issued and outstanding Shares.

Prior to the Sale, NB held 9,256,564 Shares or approximately 16.95% of the issued and outstanding Shares. The Sale represents a decrease in NB's ownership of common shares of QLTI of approximately 3.66% of the issued and outstanding common shares of QLTI.

The common shares of QLTI are held by NB for investment purposes only and NB may acquire or dispose of further securities of QLTI in the future.

This news release is being issued pursuant to Part 3 of National Instrument 62-103 The Early Warning System and Related Take-Over Bid and Insider Reporting Issues of the Canadian Securities Administrators.
